CartoZapp
During my career in publishing, I’ve had the good fortune of working in many different environments with many different people from all over the globe.
Indeed, the globe is what drew me to publishing in the first place as a freshly minted cartographer from Oxford Brookes University (Oxford Polytechnic as it was then), initially with the Reader’s Digest and subsequently with Dorling Kindersley. With these popular reference publishers, I fine-tuned my skills as a Cartographic Editor on reference atlases, history atlases and any kind of map content that graced their publications.
More recently, with the knowledge publisher John Wiley, I broadened my capabilities into general book production, content management and vendor management, mainly for academic reference titles with some business, finance and education projects thrown in as well.
I’ve also enjoyed some busy and profitable freelancing periods, most notably operating under the name Eumorphus. In supplying a nice mix of local and international clients with services such as copyediting, proofreading, project management and cartographic editing I developed a thorough grasp of what it takes to be a successful freelancer.
My career has offered me an invaluable breadth and diversity which allows me to stand in the shoes of all involved and really understand what is important to them. I’ve worked for multinationals, family businesses and as a freelancer. I’ve worked in global teams with authors, volume editors, other freelancers, India-based publishing services vendors and printers. I’ve managed a team of thirty-five colleagues and gone solo as a specialist. I’ve plied my trade in both the UK and Singapore and collaborated with many people across Asia-Pacific, India, Europe and North America.
I love learning and to supplement my career experience I always get a kick out of mastering extra professional skills, getting my head around new software or technology and general reading to improve my awareness, especially in pet subjects such as history, geography and sport.

Presenting and sharing knowledge through the written word and maps has been a calling for me throughout my career. In founding CartoZapp to pursue these enthusiasms, I look forward to drawing on all the learning, skills and experience I have acquired to Zapp your content into shape!
